Long time ago I helped a local artist named Sebastian Valencia inking some pages of his book Beetle Reich… this must have been like 4 years ago. The book is out and it’s sensational! Worth the wait.

Beetle Reich – 160 pages

Created and script by J.D. Okoro

Art by Sebastian Valencia.

As it states in The Book’s website:

The victims had to dig mass graves before they were all stung;
Whole colonies were wiped out from the old down to the young.
But this method of death was too messy and too slow;
What Grimmstone wanted was a way to kill more with one blow.
The solution required cramming crowds into a termite mound
With a chimney above the surface and a chamber underground.
Once in, the exits were all sealed and methanogen bacteria
Were released inside the chamber to poison the interior.
These microbes produced methane gas which suffocated all,
Leaving a heap of slain bodies at least a metre tall.
Other inmates of the termite mound were forced to haul the dead
And place them on a nearby sundew plant’s sticky pinhead.
The enzymes of the plant dissolved the bodies rapidly,
Leaving no trace of the victims of this mass butchery.

Beetle Reich is a fable which recounts events in the brutal history of the Third Reich. Set in the natural world of insects, it tells the tale of how Vermen Dungroll and his Fang Brigade came to power, how their empire expanded and the cataclysmic impact this had on the rest of their world.
